Standing On Boxes

I hate to spend money and not get anything back… but here’s a reason to go to Vegas – The Rio Carnival World Buffet – the biggest buffet in Vegas, maybe even the world. (Use Google to find info if you are curious)

Not cheap though… looks like $50+ a day if you want to eat all your meals there (unless they have special deals for guests…) and the hotel itself doesn’t have room service. But otherwise… looks like a one-stop entertainment location in Vegas.

Hmmm….

My “Works in Progress” page now has 12 entries on it (added one today – also added a drabble to the drabble list on the completed page.). Should probably move some to another page – the “Updated quarterly” page – at least 4 of them haven’t had anything added since October.

Renewed my weblog hosting/software – now good until May 28th , 2006. I started it back in 2002 (In the mid-90′s I had my own website but there was a gap of a few years when I changed job locations until I found Radio. It’s a wonderful content management system built on top of “Frontier” (Which is supposed to become open source eventually – if it isn’t already). Some day I’ll actually use it for more than my blog. I’ve played with its built-in outliner… but haven’t done a lot with it.)

For the curious who might want to see what other people think of my fics… besides here -

I put my fics on three different archives:

• FanFiction.net (Just a small selection of some of my stand-alone fics)
• I Kind of Love You 2 (A Buffy/Willow fic archive)
• Twisting the Hellmouth (BtVS Crossovers) (Most of my fics are crossovers so most of them are here)

I’ve also posted fics to two mailing lists:

(these can be found via Yahoo Groups – but you need to be 18+ to join/browse)

• FaithFul Chickies (A Faith-centric femslash list)
• Buffy wants Willow (Also archived on eScribe)

I also post things to the following USENet newsgroups:

• alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer.creative which can be accessed via Google groups.
• alt.fan.lara-croft which can also be accessed via Google groups.

Actually looking for my fics or reviews of them in the mailing lists or USENet groups… ? They all have search mechanisms – but it isn’t as easy as a regular fic archive.

Note: I do get quite a few private messages with feedback/reviews (and I often reply to reviewers directly). But I don’t share private e-mail. Sorry.

It’s that time of year again… need to renew my Radio license in the next 3 weeks if I want to keep my weblog where it is… It’s less than $4/month. I pay more than that for access to a good USENet server.

This was haircut week… got my bi-monthly haircut… I miss the days when I could go to a barber and get an $8 haircut. But the few barbers I’ve seen around here aren’t open when I get home from work… so I do the Wal-Mart thing – $15 (tip included). Not a BAD haircut… but I’m not trying to impress anyone (I just go for the non-scruffy look)… so any mistakes/issues would grow out.

There’s a new used bookstore on Papermill… I see it on the way home. Need to check it out.

Not much/any fic writing this week… not sure why… work has been a bit consuming since I got back from vacation… but not so much this week than last.

Not much writing this past week… mostly reading other people’s fics while I figure out where to go for the next part of “Summoned” (Which got some interesting feedback when I posted the revised/additional chapters when I came back from vacation. But now I’m wondering if the rest of it will be able to measure up…)

I have a good idea of the main plot points… but the wisdom of my crossover approach… not too sure about that… I don’t want it to be too complex… or spend half the fic avoiding rampaging Mary Sues or too much exposition. Just need to start spewing out the words…

We’ll see…

And then it’s back to the Bond and Tomb Raider crossovers for May.
