Standing On Boxes

Is it time for a BtVS/Partridge Family crossover? I think I’ve only ever seen 1 (A quick, ‘Buffy’s real father’ fic)…

I’m thinking your standard time travel crossover… SOMETHING happens and Buffy and Oz end up on the Partridge Family bus.

But when?

In the PF timeline? – Some time after the 1st season? (There were 96 episodes… wow, look at the guest stars… many I recognize, including Mark Hamill, Rob Reiner, Slim Pickens, a couple of Charlie’s Angels)

In the Buffyverse timeline? – I prefer post-Chosen fics but how do we bring Oz into it?

And will there be any cross-fandom pairings? Buffy/Keith? Oz/Laurie Partridge? or something else… Buffy/?

And what if… one of the Partridges were a potential slayer (3 choices – Shirley, Laurie, or Tracy) or maybe Reuben is a “washout” from the Watcher training program… or maybe both??

I even have a title for it — “With the Band”

I haven’t given much thought to how web index sites (the Googles, AskJeeves, Yahoo’s, etc.) are indexing my site. I don’t really care. For the pages that are semi-permanent the crude indexing scheme works okay…

But…

I happened to notice that “Ask Jeeves” had referred someone to my blog (it (“Radio”) keeps track of such things on the blog server.). So, out of curiosity I checked it out…

Oops… they point to my main blog page… but the search topic (How to put photos on an iPod nano) is going to eventually “fall off” of the main page… and be useless… even the link above would break when THIS entry is no longer on the main page… if I used a relative URL for it.

That must be what the fuss is all about with Google’s blog-indexer.

Nothing major… the fic formerly known as “Out” is now called “Class of ’99. It fits better with the expanded idea.

The url for the main story page hasn’t changed… but I have fleshed out the story outline. And split up the first part into three smaller chunks (which is how I’m actually working on it…)

Umm… no, not dinner and a movie…

• 10 gallons of gas at 3.19/gal (I couldn’t wait any longer… it was getting low…)

• A Powerball ticket (for the next 3 drawings…) Yes, I know I probably won’t win… but it’s up to $180 million tonight… I couldn’t resist… Even 10% of that and I could retire… though looking at the numbers I ended up with… Moses will once more part the Red Sea, and a Democrat get elected as US President before those numbers get picked…

  If I ever did win… I’ve always assumed it would be one of the low ones (under $30 million) because the odds are better of winning the whole thing (fewer people buying tickets..)

• The new Sheryl Crow CD – had to remove a few songs to squeeze it onto my iPod

• A couple items of clothing (on sale) – short sleeve shirts… now that Wal-mart has long sleeve shirts out now for winter/fall (a bit early around here… still 80′s in the afternoon.)

• A haircut (I was looking a little ragged…) – the usual risky one at Wal-mart (It’s never bad… as long as it can grow back I can live with that.)

That’s my “spare cash” for the week… I really need to be saving up for a trip to NH in a week or two…

Use what?

Remember the fight scene in the Bronze at the end of ‘The Harvest’? The part where Buffy jumps down from that walkway, lands on a pool table, does a forward flip (I think there’s another name for that…), grabbing a pool cue as she hits the floor and stakes a vampire seconds later?

I just couldn’t use it… it felt too much like stealing… it was too clever… and I don’t think Buffy, in this story, is quite confident enough in her abilities to pull it off yet. I would be too tempted to have her fall on her ass (slipping on a puddle of blood/beer).

And I’m once again having action-sequence issues… I’ve got how many fics or parts of fics stalled at the action sequence right now? At least 5. Maybe I just need to write a few short fics that are ONLY action to get over it?

I know how the rest of this fic will go… I just can’t seem to get it there right now…
