Fics in the works…

Finished the next part of my little fic “The Apprentice” . Not the best part of the story but it works. I have another part mostly done (the part where Giles shows up)… just needs a good review/revising before posting.
I need to update it on ff.net (and my ficlets for the ttH 100) but it is current on TtH.

Survey says…

That mentioning the fic I’m planning on working on, other than the bits for the TtH 100 (15 of 100 so far) has the negative affect of never getting the mentioned fic done.
Hopefully things will get better… I looked at the fics I actually finished last year ( 2005)… kind of scary. Only a couple new ones that I actually finished. And a lot left over from 2004. Time to do some spring cleaning fic-wise?

Story Changes

I’ve been busy the last few weeks at work… not a lot of creative brain cells left over for writing when I get home… so I’m behind in my planned writing. Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things next week when a major project is due to be finished.
For unplanned writing… I’m all over the map… I keep wanting to work on ALL of my fics. I’ve been spending some time on “The Apprentice”. I think I’ll finish up the next two parts this weekend. But after that… I’ll probably change my plans for it. It’ll most likely be scaled back. It’s main thread is a little too close to the Dawn/Highlander crossover I’m writing.
Haven’t thought what I’ll do exactly… we’ll have to see.
I’m thinking of ending the story and turning the rest of it into a series of ficlets extending into the main part of the “Red Raider” timeline.

Why the LiveJournal link?

I believe I’ve mentioned this before but anyway…
I’m not replacing this blog with a LiveJournal. Think of the LiveJournal as an offshoot/side path. I use it to post short fics/ficlets/drabbles to assorted LiveJournal based fanfic challenges.
Also, I can’t post to my blog from work… because it is centered around the content management system in Radio, my blog tool on my powerbook. And my stories are in it also. But LiveJournal allows posting using a generic web browser from anywhere.
For some reason, the fanfic communities I participate in are very LiveJournal centric. Almost no blogs… probably because LiveJournal is centered around the idea of communities while blogs are more for the solitary person who forms circles of contacts in a less automatic fashion. If that makes sense.

What’s the deal… whose looking around here?

I’m getting a lot of hits on my blog from some website like/including Ask.com. They keep redirecting people to my quick comments on how to put photos on an iPod via iTunes.
(Though it’s possible they are just pinging it to see if it is still there…)
Not the kind of traffic I want to get… I’m tempted to delete it… people should just go to Apple’s website for this kind of info…

I occasionally get hits on stories that share names with something else or cover odd topics…

This week it seems to be my story “The Apprentice” — which predates that annoying Donald Trump pseudo-reality show.

In the past, my “Girl in a Bar” fic (the Buffy meets Ginny fic) would get a lot of hits… from the ‘referer’ info I have access to… I think it is mostly getting hit by people searching for porn… which it isn’t. Very strange.

And sometimes… people actually come here for the stories… :)
