That sleeping thing…

My sleeping pattern has gotten out of whack over the past month…
I fall asleep in front of the tv after work (usually by 9PM) (What I’m watching has no effect on this…) and wake up around midnight. And then I stay awake until 3 or 4AM and wake back up around 6:3-7AM. Resulting in me arriving at work between 8:30 and 9AM.
Need to straighten that out… I don’t spend the day tired, but it would be easier to sleep in one block of time.

A quiet month…

I’d planned on doing a lot of writing this month… but it hasn’t happened. Need to get myself in gear and finish something!

The goal is to finish 1/3 of my unfinished fics BEFORE summer.

We’ll see what happens. 2006 was very light fic writing wise. Here’s hoping 2007 is much better.

No callback for you!

Every so often… someone leaves their phone number and just their name on my answering machine requesting that I call them.

Nope. Sorry…

If you don’t tell me why I should call you back and I don’t recognize one of:

  1. your voice
  2. your name
  3. your phone number

Don’t expect me to call you. I’m going to assume it’s a tele-marketer/droid.
And even if you do leave a message… if the person you are looking for is my ex-wife (it happens, even though we’ve been divorced for over 5 years and I live a 1000 miles away from her and she has never, to my knowledge, lived at my current address ) — I certainly am NOT going to call you back to help you get in contact with her. I don’t tell random strangers/bill collectors/telemarketers the phone numbers/addresses of family members (even ex-family members.).
If it is important enough… stick the message in an envelope and mail it to me. If you don’t have my address? It must not be important (The government, family, and everyone I owe money to or do business with have my USPS address and they know how to use it.)
And e-mail? Spam gets thrown out (and if I don’t recognize it? It’s spam.)

Scary…

Jack Nicholson attempting to “sing” in “Tommy

Of course, the only people in the movie who seem to be able to sing are the actual musicians like Elton John, Roger Daltrey (and others I see listed on IMdB but haven’t seen in the movie (I started watching halfway thru))).
The actors in the movie can’t sing. At all. As they prove over and over again.

Not much writing this week….

I’ve been watching the first season of “Bones” (I picked it up cheap last weekend.)
So far… I’m twelve episodes in… and I’m (obviously) liking it.
It’s more people oriented than similar shows like the “CSI” stuff…
So far, I’ve noticed several actors from BtVS/Angel — And not just David Boreanaz (He played Angel) who plays Seeley Booth – the FBI agent and one of the main characters.
K.D. Aubert – The actress who played Nikki Woods in 2 episodes of BtVS had a bit part in one episode.
Leonard Roberts – He was Forest Gates on BtVS – One of the 3 Initiative agents we get to know. He was a lawyer in an episode of “Bones”
T.J. Thyne – The actor who plays Hodgins – was a lawyer in several episodes of Angel
I’m sure there will be more…
Okay… the show revolves around Seeley Booth/Dr. Temperance ‘Bones’ Brennan and their relationship is “fun” to watch but the real stars of the show? Those are the other 4 characters:
Hodgins (the bug guy), Zack (Bones genius assistant), Angela (the tech reconstruction artist, and Dr. Goodman (the guy in charge)
My favorite character is Angela. She’s the non-techie in the lab but has great techie toys. She seems to tie the rest of the characters in the Jeffersonian lab together. I think the actress who plays her does a great job.
As the saying goes… It’s all about the squints.

Had an idea…

for an original story… it’s been floating around in my head for weeks. Not that I would post it here.

It came…

My copy of Poser 7 (The order it early Special Edition with the James Bond-ish extras).
(And just like version 6 – it doesn’t run on a Mac OS X volume that is initialized as “Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)” — but then Adobe Photoshop Elements and a few other things don’t either. It’s that case-sensititve part that causes the problems. I’m assuming that is a Finder issue since Mac OS X is Unix based and should allow case sensitive files. I think some people writing Mac software are using the wrong routines to access the file system. But what do I know… I program on VMS in an archaic sounding language.)
I really need to redo my Powerbook. I’ve got only one partition/volume that isn’t like that.

That time of year…

When the eggnog cows go back into hibernation until next December and the price of psuedo-eggnog drops like a rock…
(Why yes, I did buy some eggnog today… it’s always cheapest right after the New Year when the stories try to get rid of whatever they have left before it spoils.)

Hmmm… week in review… sort of…

I’ve spent the week off just hanging out and vegging. Didn’t really want to go anywhere — I would have ended up just spending money –
Somehow, I ended up reading a bunch of Xena uber-fics (Xena uber fics — which I believe originated the whole uber genre — tend to have two characters who MIGHT resemble Xena and Gabrielle and who MIGHT be reincarnations of the two characters. But that is often their only connection to the series.)
There are actually a few good stories – comparatively speaking – at the website I’ve been browsing. But most have the same tired plot — one that would do Harlequin proud (there are still Harlequin romances aren’t there?)
This one is a little different — I think it was there because the author has other works at the archive site – there is nothing even remotely Xena-ish about it — an amusing Twilight Zoneish story — Rude by Lois Cloarec Hart

2007

Apparently, in this part of the world it is now 2007.
Not quite sure where 2006, especially the last week, went.
