Standing On Boxes

I’ve started working on the next part of “The Two” Maybe I’ll even finish it this year?
Slow going.. at the rate I’m going it’ll take 3 weeks per part (of the next 5). I really need to write some action scenes for this section.
I also posted a short “dream sequence” in my KP series. Not a lot of feedback. I guess it was too confusing.

I bought the T a camera while she was here a few weeks ago. A Nikon CoolPix S6. (On sale/cheap because it’s been replaced by a newer model).
She tried to use it the other day and it seems to have stopped taking pictures. Hard to tell from a 1000 miles away but it sounds like it is stuck in “slideshow mode” or the lens cover is stuck closed. Or maybe the battery is too low to power the LCD view screen in picture mode? Or she accidentally found a setting that turned off the lcd monitor/view screen.
Browsing the internet for info/suggestions was very frustrating. There seem to be millions of web sites with sales info for Nikon cameras or sites with tons of search tags that match but almost no real info. I found two sites that had ANY info on cameras that seemed useful.

but no solutions. This site: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/ has a lot of info but none for that specific camera.
And Nikon’s web site had nothing even remotely useful for this.

Cagney and Lacey, that is.
(Just watched a couple episodes…)

• Picked up a copy of “Cagney and Lacey” Season 1. It was either that or Season 1 of WKRP (without most of the original songs – except the theme song. Licensing issues, ya know…)
• “The Return” – that badly marketed indie film with SMG (it was in theaters for a week or two and the DVD release didn’t get any advertising and was marketed as a Horror movie when it isn’t… supposedly… at least by current definitions) – anyway… Best Buy now has it at the “inventory dump” price and I had a coupon… so I picked up a copy… I’ll have to watch it tonight…

Or maybe I’ll watch something else? Hmm… “Escaflowne” ?

One of the two episodes of “Kim Possible” I hadn’t seen yet… the Mother’s Day episode.
(It’s shown only once a year apparently)
Kim spends some time with her mother saving the world.
Ron gets tricked into cleaning the garage by his mother.
Wade is doing stuff with his mother in his ‘holo-room’
Drakken’s mother comes to visit.

But we never see Shego’s mother? She’s the only main character to appear in that episode without a mother…
Now I just need to see the Halloween episode….

Picked up a couple used DVD’s this morning…. both of which happen to be directed by Yasuomi Umetsu.
One is okay… the one about 3+ mercenaries – (They’re “in the danger business” — “Mezzo DSA” (last couple episodes) – mostly action. Going to have to dig up the earlier episodes.
The other one… well… it is supposedly the better of his works… lots of gory action… and some very disturbing character interaction… not quite porn but the subtext is at the ‘ick’ level… and that’s the “cleaned up” ’16 and Up’ labelled version apparently. One of those anime ‘girls with guns’ stories (Not sure of the technical/fan name for this genre. – THink ‘Noir’ or ‘Gunslinger Girl’) Sort of like a pervy cross between “The Professional”, “La Femme Nikita” (the original French one). Not something to recommend to friends and family.
Can’t imagine what the “Director’s cut” is like. It was with the general anime at the used book store… should have been with the “adult” stuff… IMHO.
(Also, “Mouse” should have a warning label on it at Best Buy… while I’m thinking of mis-labelled anime DVD’s)

The battery died on the little alarm dongle I have for my 530i. I couldn’t find my spare so I had to do the “open and jump in and turn it on quickly” dance so I wouldn’t wake up too many people with the alarm. I found the spare when I got home.
And I was already late…
And when I go home… the car gave an unencouraging sound. Sort of a clacking sound –?– Not sure what it was. Hope it isn’t anything serious (if it was an engine noise… it’ll be serious). Probably related to another noise I heard a couple weeks ago that couldn’t be narrowed down to anything specific by my favorite mechanic. One of those “It only does it when it gets hot” kinds of sounds.
We’ll see…

So… I’ve moved a few photos to a free FlickR account. Still need to remove them from here and change any references.

My yearly weblog hosting fee is due… not a lot of space… but at $3.32/month ? Including blog tool support?
And there is some question whether “Userland” will be in the personal blog hosting business next year anyway. Radio or otherwise (They have a Manila based blog host for $99 but that is starting to move into serious blog territory – sure, having a lot more space would be great but that’s way beyond the simple stuff I use/need. I might as well move my blog to Yahoo at that point… but then I would have to actively manage it… and LiveJournal doesn’t really fit the way I do things…)

Some time before the end of the month I’m going to be removing my car related pictures and related info. I haven’t update it in months/years and it is just taking up space.
I’m assuming no one ever reads any of it… I don’t think I’ve ever gotten any comments about any of it… so I’m sure it won’t be missed.
I’m also going to think about redesigning the style of my blog…
