What happened to August?
I’ve done some writing this month but nothing sustained on a single story. Just bits of several. Disappointing.
Not so much writers block as being unable to decide which one to focus on.
Suggestions anyone? “The Two” has gotten the most requests this summer. But there are a couple short ones I could easily finish off with a chapter or three.
(What? No one knew I was gone?)
Just returned from a drive up to the ancestral hunting grounds. 930 miles (approx.) to and 1,157 miles back. (US miles) (I came back a different way.)
Total miles while I was on the road? 2,552. Most of which occurred during 5 days of the trip).
Compared to my daily commute… that’s half a year’s worth of driving. The only car related issue was a low coolant issue (it has a very slow leak – have to add some every couple thousand miles… should have checked it before leaving. Oops. Really need to get that fixed.)
The new car radio was great. (I managed to get it in the car right before leaving.) Except for the iPod controls. Still haven’t figured out how to easily switch between playlists. Listened to the same 50 songs all the way back to TN.
Trip highlights?
Hmm… the major one was a trip to Boldt Castle. The T and I shared a camera (I gave her my Nikon — I’ll get hers fixed and keep that. I bought myself a new camera earlier in the week (It was 40% off at Staples) but I don’t have a case or anything (it needs another lens and a spare battery ) so I didn’t take it to the castle —- which I regretted. ) – I’ll have some photos up on Flickr later this week – after I recover from the trip.
When going to Boldt Castle — we took the “Uncle Sam Boat Tours” ferry in Alex Bay, NY (They are just across the river from the Castle island) — I would recommend going early – it gets really crowded in the afternoon.) We got there before noon. Spent a couple hours wandering around the grounds and castle (It isn’t really a “castle” – think large 6 story mansion designed to look like a castle.)
Just posted the next chapter of one of my fics (“Summoned”) to TtH. 2 years after the last one. I’m sure everyone has forgotten it by now. 3 more places to post it. ff.net, ikoly, and BwW. Maybe later?
I bought a new radio for the buggy…
The CD changer died (with a CD stuck in it…) so I ordered a new radio. One that I can plug my iPod into. Spent an hour+ this evening with a soldering iron connecting the car wiring adapter I got with it to the radio wiring harness. Hopefully I did it correctly.
Now I just need to find the little tool to unscrew the old radio so I can put the new one in. (Of course, BMW requires a special tool to remove the radio. I’ve got it somewhere here. I hope.
