Watching the movie version of ‘The HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy’ for the first time.

Sure, the special effects are much better than the original British TV show, but there’s something missing. Humor, I think. In the original there was an undercurrent of absurdist humour underlying every bit ¬†of dialogue. Very Douglas Adams-like.

The movie? Kind of bland. Played too straight. Boring. And it makes less sense than it should for something based on the original. Even the TV show at least had a straightforward plot. This newer thing? Seems to be a miss-mash of things from the first book.


Oh well… we do get an appearance by the original Marvin the Paranoid Android.
